DIY Facial Peel

I have invested in tons of beauty products over the years. When it comes to facial peels, (masks you peel off when dry) its a hit or miss.

I have an inexpensive and hands down most effective method yet using two ingredients:

unflavored gelatin powder & warm water.

2:1 ratio, warm water & gelatin, combine and apply to clean skin.

Leave on your face for 10 minutes. Your skin will feel really tight. Remove by gently peeling off, and rinse excess peel off with warm water.

My face feels as if I'd had a mini facelift. My pores are noticeably smaller, and skin tone is even.

Mask will remove excess dirt & oil trapped in pores, and gelatin is beneficial to the skin because as a topical agent it removes dead skin cells, which stimulates cell production & moisture to skin, keeping it supple.

Any leftover gelatin that solidifies can be stored in the fridge and reheated and used again. Make sure gelatin cools down a bit before applying to your face.

Enjoy!

Steam Clean Your Microwave with Lemons!

Hey everybody!

I'm always grateful when discovering a new way to simplify house cleaning. Instead of scrubbing away (hopefully it doesn't get that bad), maintain the inside of your microwave with the push of a button.

You will need:

Microwave safe bowl
About half a cup of water
1-2 sliced, fresh lemons

Heat lemons and water for five minutes, then leave everything be for five more after your timer has gone off!

The steam from the water and lemons will cut through any grease or stubborn stains.

Simply wipe away with a paper towel! Easy, right? Now you'll have an extra ten minutes to do something else instead of having half of your frustrated body inside a microwave. ;0)

Add chocolate peanut butter and combine

Fold in chocolate chips.

Form dough into golf ball sized balls.

Health & Beauty Benefits of Red Wine

Like many women, I enjoy red wine in moderation. Having a glass a few nights a week (4-6 ounces) has major benefits to your health and vanity!

Not only are you decreasing your risk for:

  • cardiovascular disease
  • breast cancer
  • lung cancer
  • digestive disorders
  • neurological disorders
  • aiding in sleep thanks to melatonin

you are also:

  • slowing down the aging process
  • preventing acne
  • preventing premature wrinkles

Thank you red wine!

We all age whether we like it or not, but we can take simple steps in protecting our skin's health and well being. Having nice skin makes you feel great, which is more important than looking great.

Loving and respecting your body makes a huge impact on your outlook on life.

You don't have to be 100% perfect at all times, but we can take baby steps!

Having wine in moderation is extremely healthy as long as you don't depend on alcohol to make you feel better.

Oatmeal Hair and Scalp Mask

This treatment isn’t as messy as it sounds.

1. Oatmeal is well known for treating skin disorders such as eczema and dryness.

2. It is also rich in B vitamins and Beta-glucan, which softens and protects your hair follicles.

3. If you suffer from dandruff, a sore scalp from over processing, or any inflammation or sunburn on your scalp, this will sooth, treat, condition and protect both your hair, and scalp.

I have been very guilty of over processing my hair in the past *eeps* or bleaching my roots too frequently. This is so soothing and cool.

If you experience bleeding, blisters,  severe itching or irritation on your scalp, please see a doctor instead of trying this or any other at-home treatments.

DIY treatments are for mild irritation or discomfort. The earth provides us with some awesome materials, but doctors know best!

1 cup of oatmeal. Quick cooking is fine.

In your food processor, pulse the oatmeal until it is a powder. This way, you don’t have a big mess in your sink or bathtub, and you don’t have oats stuck in your hair.

Add about 1/4-1/2 cup of warm water, and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, which will aid in nourishing your hair, and soothing your irritated scalp.

Lather mask on to the top of your head, and massage into your scalp. Double the recipe if needed for super thick or and long hair.

I suggest leaving in this mask for around 10 minutes, to get the full effects. This treatment is safe to do on a weekly basis.

Your hair will be silky soft, not oily, and not caked on with oatmeal. Your scalp will be soothed from irritants.

DIY Heart Shaped Boiled Egg

Hey everyone! I came across this DIY mold for a heart shaped egg on AnnaTheRed.Com and it was too cute not to share with you guys. My kids LOVED them!

You will need:

1 note card
1. chopstick
2 rubber bands
1 boiled egg (but of course)

The best time to reshapen a boiled egg is soon after it's finished. Cool it down of course until its comfortable to touch, then peel the shell off.

Place the smallest point of the egg into the crease of a folded note card.

Then place a chopstick horizontally on top of the egg and secure each end with rubber bands. Let set for 20 minutes.

There you go! Now you don't need to purchase special molds, but if you do, check out my other webpage here for tips on egg molds, and boiling the perfect egg, because an over boiled egg (green yolks) is rubbery and gross.

Enjoy!!

Tea Stain Remover

Hey guys!

A quick tip today. If you have a glass pitcher with an opening that is too narrow to fit your hand in to scrub, try a DIY scrub. No bottle brush or scrubby pad required!

You will need:

3 parts kosher salt
2 parts baking soda
1 part water

Mix ingredients and shake them around for a couple of minutes. If you have really hard to reach stains add a couple of ice cubes and gently swish around.

This is an old restaurant trick used for coffee makers. I remember my aunt showing me how to do this years ago! It works quicker if you can get your hand EASILY through the mouth if a pitcher. NEVER forced your hand inside. It's dangerous, especially if you have to break glass!!

Enjoy!
